This four-lane highway was still under construction, which made traffic difficult. Gradually, I understood the way, because it was the only road from where I came to the hotel by local bus.
This part was the main area of the city of Panaji with more than expected traffic and, probably, a highway going in all directions, which was built on a branch of a river that originates somewhere high in the mountains and spreads its channels wide with numerous fishing and walking boats and small ships.
Having captured the surrounding sights in our hearts and minds, we slowly crossed the bridge. Our first place to visit was the smallest fort in Goa called Corjuem Fort.
It was located about 21 km from our hotel. We moved forward to our destination, observing with love the colorful nature around, people from the surrounding area, their culture, their clothes and especially the local architecture, which was striking in its uniqueness.
I was in no hurry to get to my destination, because my love was watching all these beautiful structures, built many centuries ago, in which the history and mysteries of Goa were read.
I stopped the car and talked to people, asking the right direction, and my heart was filled with incredible warmth from the fact that I gave my love the opportunity to observe everyone, hear the sound of their voices, look into their kind eyes and thank them for their help.
Goa's regional language was Konkani or English as we moved from town to village, so we didn't face much difficulty in speaking. So we reached our Corjuem Fort, which was in a secluded place and, probably due to its remoteness, was lonely and empty.
I stopped the car in front of a large gate and, holding hands, we went inside. Before us opened an ancient structure, built in 1705, similar to a Coliseum with many stone arches, steps and small watchtowers on four sides.
In one of these arches there was an altar where tourists could leave something of their own. Since this fort was located on a hill, picturesque views of the endless green distances, crowned with white fluffy clouds, languidly floating across the blue skies, opened from it.
And again, just me and her, and no one else around. We spent enough time there, taking a few photos and admiring enough of this delightful abandoned place, returned to the car and set off for new discoveries
